Book Review!

Story : Genius Jones and Fat Cat ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Genius Jones named his kitten ‘Fat Cat’ because he thought she would stay that way. But Fat Cat grew skinny and thin. But Genius figured out a way to become the genius he is and to also get his cat to eat! I recommend this story. 4 stars :)


 Poem : Snail ⭐⭐⭐ This poem takes us through the life of a snail and uses great adjectives to describe the shell and the slimy track it leaves. This poem can be boring if you do not enjoy nature poems but in my opinion it is a great poem. 3 stars :)


Non fiction : The Biggest Snake in The World! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This article’s title was very eye-catching! It talks about how giant the great ‘Titanoboa’ was. Even though it could eat about 3 humans we dont have to fear because it lived 60 million years ago! This article is AMAZING! 5 stars :)

K.O.S (Keeping Ourselves Safe)

In Tui Hub we have been learning about Keeping Ourselves Safe and STAR. We have even played a game called pass the ball where Kimble would pass us a ball and we were given a scenario and we had to answer how we would get out of it. If Edie thought our answer would get us into even more danger she would blow her whistle. Definitely recommend playing this at home. We also learnt all the different types of abuse like, Physical - Hitting and Punching, Verbal - Aggressive Swearing and a lot more.

So to Tui Hub and Kea Hub here's a scenario for you!

Food Tech Slide

Hi! Recently in class we have been working on Food Technology. I decided to make a slide on it. This took quite a while to make! So I hope you enjoy! All pictures are of Unsplash.
 

First day back! Term 4...

Holidays go fast don't they? First day back at class and I was very happy to come back to warm greeting after an extra 2 weeks of holidays. I got to meet a brand new girl in our class called Neveah. She is from Samoa and arrived a couple of days after I left to Rarotonga. She is very sweet. Also found out that there is a new boy in Room 12 called Orlando. First thing was library. I got to choose out some new books and watched as people played Banana - Gram with my very quirky teacher Mrs O'neil. I had a great morning tea as I played hand ball. Alot of people thought that I left the school. Weird huh? At maths we were introuduced to a new teacher aid. A guy who was sort of like a teacher aid last year. Then we went on to writing which was just doing our comic strips. And I had a GREAT lunch. Since this term is 'Athletics' term, the long jump was out. I had a spectacular time doing the long jump! Sehansa was particularly good. Then the rest of my afternoon was fabulous and now im back home! Hope this last term is a great actual last term for the year 6's going to intermediate next year! Rarotonga

Oh my gosh! I just had the best time at Rarotonga! 2 weeks before the school holidays for some reason. I studied the island closely, and I am here to share those with you!
So firstly:
1. There is close to no internet in Rarotonga except places like Airports and cafes
2. There is a very high chance that if you are staying at a non-luxury hotel or motel, you will spot more than a few gecko's! They mostly come out at night, so its very rare if you see them throughout the day
3. In Rarotonga, they do not have planes. So people flying to Rarotonga get dropped off by where there from, then the people flying from Rarotonga will go onto that plane
4. The ocean is a very light blue at the shallow end but way further down it is a nice dark blue. It isn't often that the tide comes into the shore. My mum wanted us to fly to Aitutaki where the ocean is more beautiful, which is a 45 minute trip from Raro. But we didn't end up going.
5. There is more restaurants, marine reserves, spa's and bars then you could think of! Some days we went snorkelling in the marine reserve and there were SO MUCH FISH. To bad we couldn't fish them!
6. Everyone is very friendly! As my Mum and I passed a few locals they waved and shouted 'Kia Orana!'
7. Their songs are very beautiful! We went to Avarua Church and they sang a touching song that my Mum remembered from growing up there. She started crying.
8. When a family member passes, they bury them in the front of their house.
Hope you enjoyed! Rarotonga is wonderful and I'm definitely am planning to go back and I certainly recommend going!

Reflection on Gymnastics

Reflection of Gymnastics: Today we did gymnastics with Project Energize instructors, Ricky and Jonno. Ricky is a 'gymnastics expert'. He was there to guide us. We had 4 different swap-overs, the horse (vault), beam, forward rolls with Ricky and handstands on the wall. I used to go to gymnastics so I thought I was pretty good. My group started with vault. We had to walk (or run) up to it and when we got up onto it we did something called a rocket jump, a big jump, and landing in motorbike.  Next was forward rolls. I think I did a good job in forward rolls. Ricky gave me some tips on how to do them better. You have to put your hands on the mat and your feet close to the edge of the mat. You tuck your head into your chin so your head doesnt touch the ground! You could injure your neck or head badly! Then like that, we were onto handstands. I LOVE HANDSTANDS! I do them anytime, anywhere. I will do it in the shops or in Pizza Hut or anywhere else. Mum calls me a show off though! So I practiced my technique and I did great! Then my other favourite, the beam. I love doing beam! We could do what we wanted so I did, dips wit my feet, a scale balance, backwards walking and balancing. And to top it all off, I did a great motorbike land. I loved doing gymnastics with Jonno and Ricky!

But when we came back Edie gave us a speech about that not everyone is really good at gymnastics and some people struggle with it. Everyone is good at something! Some people were pointed out for doing these things. Over All I had a great time today! I Love gymnastics!!

Anahera’s and Honey’s Cross Country Is Hard! Cross country practice is really tiring, because every year it gets harder and harder. This is because as you get older, you have to run further. The good thing about it is that you get really fit. If you get 8th place or under, you get to go to interschool cross country.  

The course for year 4’s is really hard! Sometimes we think it's impossible and way too far especially while jogging it for the first time, panting like a dog. But having a growth mindset always makes it easier. So we have just got to keep on going.

 Every week, on Friday, Kauri team practices the whole course. It's hard sometimes. But the more we do it, the fitter we get so you never know, you might get 8th place or under! I would be very proud of myself if this happened.

Mysterious Schools - Khloe Beere

Kaylee Hawks was a mystery, always wore black, always just sighed and never ever talked. She was nothing compared to Eliza Keys. Eliza Keys was an outgoing girl. Some people would call her a quirky, but I cant really tell so I just call her outgoing. She loves fun and games, shes 10 years old and she acts like shes 6! On top of all that her family are rich! Her mum is Alicia Keys! WHy would she come to a school like this when she could go somewhere to a school as amazing! And I Khloe Beere am in between. I am like Eliza sometimes because I am happy and joyful. But I am like Kaylee because my parents just split up and I am sooo sad. But I think of Eliza and try to stay positive. I am an investagator and mystery seeker. I enjoy having a mystery to solve. But something was strange about Kaylee and this school. And I was gonna find out!

My art for the HES art exhibition

For the outdoor art exhibition I, along with alot of others are going to be making a people village. The people village is going to be made out of clay. Everyone chooses what animal or human they want to shape out of clay. This will take a few weeks as we will need to paint and go to Peachgrove Intermediate to fire the clay to make it secure! I hope this turns out okay!!

I consider my family an inspiration, for my dream is to be a singer

I have a very musical family, so that’s where my dream comes from. My favourite singer has always been Adele, she wrote the song I first sang, I look up to her. I will have to audition for shows and work hard to make my dream come true. If I ever do become a singer, my biggest dream in that dream would be to sing a duet with my mum, with a beat made by my brother on a television show. If I could, I would want to meet Adele in LA.
