Pop - Up Library with Joe Harawira

The excited Room 11 and 12 travelled on the bus to the pop up central library to hear Te Reo stories from Joe ( Joesph ) Harawira. I was overjoyed! I LOVE maori legends and stories. I couldn't wait to hear more!

Everyone was told to be silent as we tip - toed into the library. There standing there was Joe Harawira, he had a tamoko and a smiling face and everyone is so excited! I have seen him all over the news and the internet! He told us a bit about him self, he said he is like the protecter of the birds and trees of Aotearoa. He sang us a waiata about numbers to ten. Then the stories...!!!

The first story was called Rata and the great Tane Mahuta. He didn't need a book, he did it without a book, he just acted it out, which is even more amazing. Rata's father died out on an island and Rata's mama told him to carve out a waka and fetch his papa. Rata tried to cut down a Kauri tree but did not ask for Tane Mahuta's permission, and Rata admitted he did wrong. The next morning all the creatures in the forest made Rata a beautiful waka to fetch hid papa.

Ukulele Song - With Harlynn

Today my best friend Harlynn came to my house. My mum, Harlynn and I went out for the day! While we were out my mum bought me a ukulele and 2 guitar pics! I was really excited. It was HILARIOUS watching my mum tuning the ukulele! Apparently you are supposed to sing 'my dog has fleas' in different pitches. Harlynn and I decided we were going to make a song up with the ukulele! We cannot wait to get started!! Ka Kite x

P.S we both take ukulele classes with Garth every Wednesday lunch time!
This is what it looks like

Mysterious Schools - Khloe Beere

Kaylee Hawks was a mystery, always wore black, always just sighed and never ever talked. She was nothing compared to Eliza Keys. Eliza Keys was an outgoing girl. Some people would call her a quirky, but I cant really tell so I just call her outgoing. She loves fun and games, shes 10 years old and she acts like shes 6! On top of all that her family are rich! Her mum is Alicia Keys! WHy would she come to a school like this when she could go somewhere to a school as amazing! And I Khloe Beere am in between. I am like Eliza sometimes because I am happy and joyful. But I am like Kaylee because my parents just split up and I am sooo sad. But I think of Eliza and try to stay positive. I am an investagator and mystery seeker. I enjoy having a mystery to solve. But something was strange about Kaylee and this school. And I was gonna find out!

The people village is going to be made out of clay. Everyone chooses what animal or human they want to shape out of clay. This will take a few weeks as we will need to paint and go to Peachgrove Intermediate to fire the clay to make it secure! I hope this turns out okay!!

Its the end of the term 2!

The end of term 2!! 21 ( two terms)  hard weeks of learning! A 2 week holiday was well deserved for all of us children, including teachers. I enjoyed doing Genius Hour this term. It was very fun and it was a great first experience, and I loved making the snowman snow globe! We all were definetly in the learning pit ( where you cant do something and you stay there until you find a way out and have more knowledge) because my arms for the snowman kept falling off, the glue wasnt sticking and to me it was geniunly impossible! But I found a way out at the end.

HUGE thank you to Edie, Mrs'Oneil and Garth because they have been working hard all through these long months and cold days so whakawheti koe to you.

My Dream Writing

Anahera                             My Dream

I consider my family an inspiration, for my dream is to be a singer

I have a very musical family, so that’s where my dream comes from. My favourite singer has always been Adele, she wrote the song I first sang, I look up to her. I will have to audition for shows and work hard to make my dream come true. If I ever do become a singer, my biggest dream in that dream would be to sing a duet with my mum, with a beat made by my brother on a television show. If I could, I would want to meet Adele in LA.

Thanks for reading!
